The orthodontic department at SmileKrafters is committed to perfecting smiles of all ages. The orthodontists at SmileKrafters will work with you to determine which treatment option is best.
When to Begin Treatment
Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a patient receives an orthodontic evaluation at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but an early examination will help determine the best time to begin treatment.
Adult Orthodontic Treatment
Braces aren't just for kids anymore. Tooth alignment can be changed at any age if your gums and bone structure are healthy. We offer a variety of treatments that are tailored to different age groups. A new smile can begin today.
Orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain.
The new techniques and appliances we use at SmileKrafters greatly reduce discomfort, the frequency of visits, and treatment time. Your treatment options may include metal braces, translucent braces, or transparent aligners that can be worn at night to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth.
During the initial examination, we will be able to determine the best possible treatment for your individual needs. At your consultation with us, we can outline the treatment plan, time of treatment expected and the approximate cost.
A large percentage of our patients at SmileKrafters orthodontics department are adults, and they agree that it's never too late to improve their smile!
Types of Orthodontic Treatment
-
Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional braces consist of metal brackets and wires and are the option most people think of when they consider braces. After getting the braces on, the wires will be adjusted at each follow-up appointment in order to keep moving the teeth to their ideal position. Patients must be sure to come to their appointments so their treatment can progress as planned and the braces can come off sooner. Patients are also able to pick the color bands they like and express themselves through their smile!
-
Invisalign®
Invisalign is a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that both orthodontists and dentists use as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces. The aligners are completely transparent, therefore far more difficult to detect than traditional wire and bracket braces. You can take the aligners off while eating and brushing, therefore they do not cause tooth decay like tradition braces.
